Hot Cereal (with Barley)
This is my first attempt with any kind of cereal here, we do have regular cereals in some places but they are really expensive (close to 20 MADs/box)! However, a brilliant PCV shared this on our facebook the other day!
1 part barkley oats (Balboula)
3 parts water
dash of salt
any ingredients you want to add for flavor
Put the barley and water in a saucepan to boil, add some salt. Allow 10 or so minutes to boil. Take off stove and add any combination of flavors!!! -Make the night/day before if you would prefer it cold.Today I used strawberry jam, vanilla flavoring and a fresh nectarine to flavor. I am looking to use:
-laughing cow cheese and strawberry jam (I am hoping this will taste like a danish)
-any kind of yogurt and fresh fruit
-chocolate nutella with strawberry jam
-peanut butter and chocolate nutella
This recipe comes from our fabulous Peace Corps Morocco Kitchen Guide- we will never buy a box brand again!

Stir together dry ingredients. Make a well in the center and set aside. In another bowl, combine egg, milk and cooking oil. Pour egg mixture into dry ingredient bowl… stir until mixture is just moistened and lumpy. Pour into skillet and cook over medium heat.
